As if they didn’t already fit the bill for most everything, J Crew has gone baby. It’s almost hard to believe that this is a new line, but yes, now J Crew Baby is here, meaning your tiniest members of the family can be groomed from day one to start craving cute cardigans and classics with a twist.
It begins with the basics which they are notorious for. The new baby collection features totally adorable onesies, baby hats in a dozen colors, pants and leggings, baby shoes and baby booties, bibs and more. There are wearable solids and easy stripes and dots–even graphic prints that remind us a whole lot of Marimekko.
There’s even an entire cashmere collection that includes everything from baby hoodies and leggings to baby blankets in 13 different colors. And looking at these sweaters–hey, didn’t we just tell you that stars are hot for kids?
Admittedly we’re not the first to recommend hand-wash cashmere for everyday use (unless you happen to have a professional hand-washer around the house?), but they do
Then, oh boy, J Crew steps it up a notch with partnerships with some of our favorite brands. In fact, half of this new collection is sourced from very trusted brands familiar to us in the Cool Mom department–another reassurance that J Crew Baby won’t steer us wrong.
You’ll find a whole collection of Nature Baby for Crew Cuts, featuring exclusive designs in their trademark New Zealand cotton like these fabulous little booties.
There’s adorable Liberty of London Tunics, eye-popping outerwear by 7AM Enfant and lots of high end, drool-worthy choices from CMP favorite Oeuf. (Love that Tres Cool sweater!)
Petit Bateau for J Crew features, among other cute French styled choices, this shower-ready gift set of 7 gorgeous onesies.
Plus there’s Sperry Topsider for Baby (at top) and Minnetonka shoes (adorable and practical), and some of the small brands we’ve so glad they’re supporting like Lem Lem, the splurgy beautiful Makie, Baby Etiquette, Old Soles baby shoes, and the modern Bohemian flair of Rikshaw Design in cute hats, bloomers, and burp/bib sets.
There’s also a small selection of dolls and toys, meaning you can throw a little extra something in with your clothing purchase for a baby gift that’s ready to go. Or buy one of their ready-made, nicely curated baby gift sets and have your shopping done in about 3 clicks.
Price points, well, they vary wildely. There are onesies priced at $24, $19.95 fringed baby booties, and then on the higher end, cashmere baby hoodies for $155, So it seems there is a little something for everyone who is interested here.
For the folks to love to rely on a trusted brand, this is a home run whether for you to load up your own layette or to do some one-stop shopping to break out some killer baby shower gifts. Let’s just say we’re super happy about it. –Stephanie M
