The way my kids look forward to a new backpack each fall is pretty much the way I look forward to finding a new handbag each fall (whether I need one or not). My standards: Something I know I can wear every single day, that goes from day to night, and that goes with pretty much anything I might be wearing.
I will admit I wouldn’t normally think to visit Coach, but wow, their new fall handbags are subtle, sleek, and right up my alley.
If you’re looking for a splurgey designer bag that you know will last foreeeever, Coach has always fit the bill. Especially now that the new styles are light on the logo thing, and strike the right blend of modern and classic so they won’t look old hat (or old bag) come next year.
Here, just a few of my favorites.
The Coach Madison Small Shoulder Bag (at top) might be at the top of my list, with a pebbled leather and a slouchy shape that betrays the organization options going on inside. It comes in a ton of gorgeous colors, especially if you get the standard leather handbag (
The Coach Legacy Chelsea Carryall is a little more preppy classic and while it comes in 6 colors, I think this camel is the most perfect neutral. I owned a bag with this sort of structure years ago, before I even had cell phones or tablets to protect in there, and found it incredibly practical.
For something a little more fancypants Fifth Avenue, check out the Legacy Haley Satchel in a stunning two-toned leather. Winter whites are big again, but there’s no way I’d invest in a white coat living in a city. This is a cool way to pull it off.
If you like the look but prefer a roomier tote, check out the Coach Legacy Turnlock Tote. And honestly, the price isn’t too bad considering leather designer totes often cost 3 or 4 times that.
I’ve never been one for wearing big company logos on my accessories, so I am so happy seeing how Coach is moving back towards the simplicity of their roots, only with fresh new styles. Too early to start my holiday wishlist? –Liz
