While you are pregnant and post delivery, your body goes through many changes. Acne can be associated to various reasons after your pregnancy. Here are some of the most common ones:
1. Hormonal Changes:
Your body goes through a lot of hormonal changes during your pregnancy and post delivery. In most cases, you could experience a case of acne as a result of the fluctuating hormones. Breastfeeding also releases certain hormones that can lead to acne.
It may sound ironic, but if you are dehydrated, your skin will actually start breaking out! In your initial days after giving birth, you may find it hard to get time for yourself. In the sudden chaos and taking care of your baby, you may forget to drink adequate amount of water. This can often lead you to become dehydrated. Drink at least eight glasses of water each day to ensure your skin is hydrated.
3. Stress And Lack Of Sleep:
It is natural for you to feel stressed and not get enough sleep when you have a new born in the house. This can lead to breakouts. Try and sleep as much as you can. If you cannot sleep, try and relax as much as possible. Ask your partner to help you when you feel overly stressed. This will give your body the much needed rest to help bounce back. It will also help you take care of your baby better.
How Can I Prevent Or Reduce Acne After Pregnancy?
One of the first things you can do to ensure your acne will not spread is not to touch it. Resist the feeling to pick the acne. Avoid going out in the sun directly. Use a safe sun screen at least half an hour before you have to go out.
You may want to switch to a face wash or cleanser that is gentle and works effectively on acne. Cleansers that contain ingredients like chamomile, green tea, lavender, and eucalyptus oil are known to be good anti-acne solutions.
Eat healthy, drink adequate amounts of water, rest well and try to minimize stress as much as you can.
