1. Mince and Sweet Potato Pie:

Almost all kids love to eat pies. If your kid is the same, try this protein filled pie.


  • 500g mince
  • Two tsp olive oil
  • One onion
  • Two carrots
  • 200g peas
  • 300g baked beans
  • Two sweet potatoes

How To Make:

  • Preheat the oven to 190’C
  • Peel the sweet potatoes and chop.
  • Add the potato pieces into a pan of boiling water.
  • Take a large pan and heat some oil in it.
  • Next, add chopped onions and carrots. Fry until the onions have become soft.
  • Next, add the mince. Fry till it is brown in color.
  • Cook on for about 10-12 minutes on medium heat.
  • Add the peas and beans and cook for few more minutes. Don’t forget to stir occasionally.
  • Your sweet potatoes should be done by now. Take them out of the pan and mash.
  • Now, pour the mince into an oven safe dish and put the sweet potato mash on top.
  • Now let it bake in the oven for around 40 minutes.
  • Your mince and sweet potato pie is now ready!

2. Sweet Potato And Pineapple Burger:

This is surely one of the most popular sweet potato recipes for children. If kids had a country, their national food would surely be a burger! There is something about burgers that kids just can’t resist. With this recipe, you can give your burger a healthy twist.


  • 600g sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • Two garlic cloves
  • One tsp Moroccan spice mix
  • Five pineapple rings
  • One tsp rose harissa
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • 50g almonds
  • 100g pumpkin seeds
  • Gram flour
  • Bread rolls

How To Make:

  • Preheat the oven to 220’C
  • Cut the sweet potatoes in half and bake in for 30 minutes. Do not peel the potatoes.
  • Once they are done, scoop out the flesh.
  • Now, fry the onions until soft.
  • Add the garlic, and Moroccan spice mix.
  • Fry for another 30 seconds or so. Keep stirring continuously.
  • Chop the pineapple rings into small cubes and put in a big bowl along with the cooked sweet potato flesh, fried onions, rose harissa, breadcrumbs, almonds and pumpkin seeds.
  • Pat these contents into shape and make around eight thin burgers.
  • Now roll them in gram flour. Make sure they are coated evenly from all sides.
  • Shallow fry until the burgers are golden on each side.
  • Now assemble the burgers and serve them warm!

  • 200g new potatoes
  • Two red onions
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • Four sprigs of rosemary
  • 8 sausages
  • 400g sweet potato
  • Black pepper

How To Make:

  • Preheat the oven to 200’C
  • Take a large baking tray and spread the new potatoes and onions.
  • Drizzle some olive oil, add the sprigs of rosemary, and season with pepper.
  • Now add sausage chunks and put the tray into the oven.
  • After 10 minutes add the sweet potato and mix.
  • Place the tray on the top shelf and roast for about 20 minutes.
  • Serve hot!

  • Three sweet potatoes

  • 570ml vegetable/chicken stock
