2. Constipation:

Hormonal changes during pregnancy

may cause constipation. Consuming foods that are rich in fiber such as cereals, fruits, and vegetables could be an effective way to trigger the bowel movement. Moderate exercise and increasing your water intake could also help. (1)

3. Heartburn:

Hormonal changes during pregnancy could lead to the softening of the sphincter between the esophagus and stomach, which may allow the digestive acid to flow upward and cause heartburn. Consuming small meals throughout the day, eating yogurt, and avoiding spicy foods can help tackle heartburn effectively. You should also stay upright for some time after consuming a meal to allow the food to move down naturally. (2)

4. Nausea And Morning Sickness:

Morning sickness is one of the most common symptoms of pregnancy. The exact cause of nausea during pregnancy is not very well understood, however, the production of the human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) hormone could be the cause. Avoiding foods that trigger nausea, sucking on hard candy, sniffing on lemon and ginger and taking plenty of rest can be helpful in dealing with nausea during pregnancy. 5. Vaginal Bleeding:

6. Urinary Incontinence:

During pregnancy, the pelvic floor muscles relax to prepare for the delivery, which may cause small leakages of urine occasionally. Scheduling bathroom breaks, watching weight gain and practicing Kegel exercises could be effective ways to handle bladder incontinence during pregnancy. (6)

7. Cough And Cold:

Pregnancy causes the mucous membranes of the body to swell, which can make it difficult to get rid of cold and cough. Taking vitamin C and zinc supplements, eating a balanced diet with more of onions and garlic and using a humidifier could help prevent cold and cough during pregnancy.

8. Backache:

Back pain is among the other common complaints during pregnancy. Several factors such as weight gain, hormonal changes, stress and posture changes could contribute to it. Regularly exercising, focusing on the posture applying hot or cold compresses could help relieve back pain during pregnancy. (7)

9. Insomnia:

Back pain, heartburn, anxiety, frequent urination at night and a growing baby bump could all be put to blame for insomnia during pregnancy. Trying new sleeping positions, having a warm bath to relax before sleeping and creating a comfortable atmosphere in the bedroom could help you tackle insomnia. (8)

10. Swollen Feet:

Swelling of the feet also adds to the discomfort during pregnancy. Water retention during pregnancy may make your feet swell. You should avoid standing for too long during pregnancy. Wearing comfortable footwear, doing a few foot exercises and using a foot stool may also help reduce the swelling. (9)
